DESCRIPTION

The horoscope of Philip II. Translation and analysis: Demetrio Santos Santos. 2 volumes.
Facsimile and study.
Limited edition. Copy 126/980.
Ediciones Grial, Madrid, 1995.
Edition in two volumes: facsimile of the original manuscript and study volume.
Measurements: 16.5 x 21 cm (manuscript), 15.6 x 20.7 cm (study book), 20 x 23.8 cm (slipcase).

Facsimile of the original manuscript of the Horoscope of Philip II, accompanied by a volume of analysis, transcription and study by the astronomer and historian Demetrio Santos Santos, one of the greatest experts in historical astrology in the Hispanic field. The work was published in 1995 by Ediciones Grial, based in Madrid, in a careful presentation that combines both paleographic fidelity and scientific rigor in its interpretation.

The facsimile reproduces in detail the Renaissance astrological manuscript that interprets the birth chart of Philip II, King of Spain, within the cultural, symbolic and scientific context of the time. The study volume accompanies the facsimile with a complete translation of the original text and an exhaustive analysis of its astronomical, historical and philosophical content, including charts, tables and astrological interpretations from the perspective of classical and medieval tradition.

The set is neatly bound, ideal for specialized libraries, historians of science, collectors of antiquarian books and scholars of Renaissance thought and courtly astrology.
