French ornamental pedestal from the Empire period that combines a structure in green onyx from Pakistan and agate for the bottom of the columns, and with a design based on rounded stepped volumes, with sharp edges.
Onyx or onyx is a class 4 mineral (oxides); according to the Strunz classification it is considered a semi-precious stone, although according to the International Mineralogical Association it is not accepted as a mineral but as a variety of agate or chalcedony. It is composed of silica (silicon oxide).
