BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
ANTONIO CAMPUZANO SOLANS (1919 - 1988).
Side table.
Glass with white crackled earthenware base.
Signed.
Measurements: 50 x 55 cm (glass diameter).
Antonio Campuzano began his training in the art of miniature, although he would later devote himself entirely to sculpture and, following his self-taught line, he conscientiously studied the difficult speciality of ceramics. He specialised in small-format figures, mainly in terracotta, although he also tackled monumental sculptural projects. He exhibited for the first time in Barcelona in 1944. Among other distinctions, he was awarded the Medal of the Paestum Academy in Milan in 1969. He was also known for the figurines he made for Nativity scenes, and some examples of his work are kept at the Asociación de Pesebristas de Barcelona, which awarded him its Second Prize in 1943. In 1952 Campuzano began his activity in the field of ceramics, developing an important body of work until, in 1978, he began a second stage in his career, in which his final work was cast in bronze.
