BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Victorian three-part bookcase, late 19th century.
Decorated walnut wood.
In good structural condition.
Presents breakage in a glass.
Measurements: 244 x 216 x 52 cm.

Victorian three-part bookcase of large format, made at the end of the 19th century in walnut wood, with rich veined decoration and neat architectural composition. The front is organized by a slightly forward central body, flanked by two glazed lateral bodies, which gives depth and monumentality to the whole.

The upper part has glazed doors with arched finials and interior shelves, while the lower part is reserved for closed compartments, balancing display function and storage capacity. The decorative quality of the sheet metal, the rounded moldings, the small carved motifs and the openwork top coping stand out, reinforcing its ornamental character.

Due to its monumental proportions, material richness and scenographic presence, it is a representative piece of late 19th century Victorian furniture, conceived as the main piece of furniture in a library or living room.
