Imposing ceiling lamp made by Marius-Ernest Sabino around 1930, one of the great figures of artistic glass and French Art Deco lighting. The piece stands out for its spectacular radial composition, organized around a central faceted body from which six lateral diffusers of molded glass, pressed and partially satin-finished.
Its design, of great architectural presence, combines the rigorous geometry of Art Deco with a refined decoration in relief, based on linear and stylized plant motifs. When illuminated, the glass acquires a remarkable visual depth, alternating translucent and satin areas that sift the light and generate a warm, enveloping and scenographic effect.
Seen from below, the lamp unfolds like a luminous star, with a powerful sculptural dimension. The combination of nickel, bronze and glass, together with the quality of execution and the complexity of its structure, place it among the high-end Art Deco lighting pieces.
Marius-Ernest Sabino, of Sicilian origin, trained at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After World War I he founded his own manufacture, specializing in molded glass with relief decorations. Since the twenties he made official commissions, participated in the Paris Salons and presented a large illuminated column at the Universal Exhibition of 1937.
