Ceiling lamp made by Marius-Ernest Sabino around 1930, within the French Art Deco language. The piece stands out for its imposing geometric composition, organized around a central hexagonal body from which six radial arms are formed, topped by staggered glass diffusers.
The design combines a nickel and bronze structure with molded, pressed and partially satin-finished glass, worked with linear reliefs of great decorative effect. Light filters through the various glass elements, generating a warm, enveloping illumination that is both ornamental and architectural.
Seen from below, the lamp reveals a composition of great visual strength, close to a luminous star, fully Art Deco in its symmetry, geometry and decorative monumentality. The documentation in Mobilier et Décoration of 1929 reinforces the historical interest of this exceptional piece.
Marius-Ernest Sabino, of Sicilian origin, was trained at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, where he was particularly interested in the artistic applications of glass. After the First World War he founded his own manufacture, developing innovative techniques of molded glass with relief decorations. From the twenties he made official commissions and ornamental pieces, participated in the Paris Salons and presented a large illuminated column at the Universal Exhibition of 1937.
