DESCRIPTION
Pair of armchairs. Victorian era, 19th century.
Walnut wood.
Green upholstered seats.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use and some xylophages.
Measurements: 105 x 62 x 60 cm.
Pair of Victorian armchairs, made of walnut wood, with seat upholstered in green fabric. They have a high back with a mixtilinear profile, with a cut-out central blade and curved side uprights, which give lightness and movement to the whole.
The design responds to the historicist taste of 19th century English furniture, visible in the combination of curves, scrolls and undulating profiles. The sinuous arms, the cut-out lower skirt and the cabriole front legs, carved with vegetal motifs, reinforce the ornamental character of the pieces.
