BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Spanish fan, XX century.
Mother-of-pearl, lace country.
In fan holder.
Measurements: 36 x 60 x 5 cm.
Spanish fan with mother-of-pearl rods whose iridescent whiteness harmonizes with the white of the country made in lace that recreates fine foliate motifs.
Between the 18th and early 20th centuries, social gatherings in public events were the appropriate context for ladies to show off their new fashion acquisitions, of which fans were the perfect complement. These became very important not only because of their usefulness, but also because the ladies developed a whole language around the use and arrangement of the fan.
