Provenance: The cigar box originally belonged to Don Secundino Sobrado, an important and well known family from Galicia, specifically from Melide, a small town on the road to Santiago de Compostela. The couple Don Secundino Sobrado and Concepción Sánchez received this lot of cigars as a present in the 40's from a great friend who traveled to Cuba. Their son inherited it and kept it as a great treasure. It was later inherited by their three daughters. Finally, the lot belonged to the grandfather of the current owners since the 1940's. It has been guarded and preserved by the Sobrado family all this time.

Montecristo is one of the most recognized Habanos brands in the world. Montecristo could be considered the benchmark by which all other Habanos are measured. Its name originates from the novel "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas. The tobacco shop reader used to read the novel to the cigar rollers at the H.Upmann factory in Havana, where the brand was founded in 1935. Such was the acceptance that it was decided to name the new brand after the protagonist of the novel.
