DESCRIPTION
Liquor cabinet of the 19th century.
Rosewood, with fruit wood marquetry.
Measurements: 92 x 94 x 95 cm.
Liquor cabinet of singular elegance, conceived with the refinement typical of the furniture destined to the well-to-do salons of the time. The richness of its grain, deep and undulating, as well as its warm reddish tone, is typical of rosewood or wood of similar quality.
The design reveals a clearly eclectic taste, heir to the neoclassical revival that dominated the second half of the century. The symmetry of its volumes, the precision of the lines and the presence of a mirror on the upper lid - intended to enhance the presentation of the service - coexist with a warmer and more ornamental decoration. The fine floral and solar marquetries that enrich the lower doors stand out, executed with a skill that denotes first-class craftsmanship.
