DESCRIPTION
Pair of French glasses. Epoch Restoration, first half of the 19th century.
Gilded bronze and Siena marble.
Presents some flaws and cracks in the marble.
Measurements: 23 x 18,5 x 14,5 cm.
This pair of French cups or bowls in gilded bronze and Siena marble is an exceptional example of the decorative refinement of the Restoration period. Resolved in neoclassical language, they have circular cups supported by fluted shafts and prismatic bases of rich reddish veined tonality. The handles in the form of finely chiseled intertwined serpents stand out, adding a sculptural and sophisticated accent to the whole. Pieces of great decorative value, ideal for enriching a fireplace or a period console.
