DESCRIPTION
Cornucopia frame Charles IV, late 18th century-early 19th century.
Carved and gilded wood.
Antique moon.
Presents faults in the carving.
Measurements: 87 x 54 x 16 cm.
This frame of Carlos IV period presents a clear neoclassical aesthetics with decorative survivals of the late baroque. It is a carved and gilded piece, of rectangular format, with a molded profile based on continuous scrolls that frame the central moon. The structure is enriched with abundant vegetal decoration, leaves and scrolls that unfold symmetrically on both sides. In the upper part there is a central top in the form of a cup or vase from which floral elements emerge, providing verticality and a certain ornamental air inherited from the previous taste, while in the lower part there is a central vegetal motif that balances the composition. Overall, it combines the more restrained elegance of neoclassicism with a still dynamic and rich decorative taste, characteristic of the stylistic transition of the late eighteenth century.
