DESCRIPTION
Pair of candlesticks or candlestick holders, Spain, XVII century.
Wrought iron.
Measurements: 132 cm (height).
Pair of candlesticks of great height, made of wrought iron with a slender and sober structure. The shaft, of stylized section with slight widening, rises on a tripod base with curved legs, providing stability and visual lightness.
This type of candlestick is representative of the Spanish metallurgical tradition of the 17th century, where forging reached a remarkable technical and aesthetic development. They reflect the Hispanic Baroque aesthetic, in which expressiveness is achieved through form and material rather than through abundant decoration.
