Champagne cooler in Art Nouveau style, made around 1900 following aesthetic models similar to those popularized by WMF. Executed in silver-plated metal, it has a globular body elevated on three legs, with elegant side handles and rich vegetal decoration in relief, characteristic of the organic language of the time. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of a male mask of Bacchic inspiration integrated into the composition, which adds a symbolic and ornamental accent, evoking the universe of wine and celebration characteristic of the imaginary of the time.
WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which stands for Württemberg Metal Factory. The factory was established in 1880 in the small town of Geislingen on the river Steige, and was of great renown on the German scene in the late 19th and early 20th century.
