The representation of tennis players in this French Art Deco mirror from the 1930s responds to the cultural context of the time, in which tennis had established itself as a modern, elegant sport associated with the elite, a symbol of sophistication and cosmopolitan life. At the same time, Art Deco showed a clear fascination for movement, speed and the body in action, finding in these figures an ideal motif to develop dynamic, stylized and geometric compositions.
