DESCRIPTION
English easel of the XIX century.
Oak wood.
Measurements: 206 x 70 x 66 cm.
English oak easel with a vertical rectangular structure on a very stable tripod base. It has an adjustable central system to regulate the height of the canvas and with upper and lower mobile supports that allow to hold paintings of different sizes, being a robust and traditional model.
The quality of the woodwork is outstanding. The English of the 19th century, especially during the Regency, Victorian and George IV periods, developed a strong tradition of working with fine woods such as mahogany, walnut and oak. Many easels were handcrafted, incorporating sophisticated mechanisms and a careful execution typical of the fine cabinetmaking of the period.
