DESCRIPTION
Set of four decorative weapons of medieval style. XIX century.
Patinated iron.
Composed by axe, dagger and two maces.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use.
Measurements: 60 cm long the biggest one.
Set of four decorative weapons of medieval inspiration. The lot is composed of an axe with a profusely decorated curved blade, a dagger with an ornamented hilt and two maces of different typology, one of them with a crowned head and the other with an openwork top and lateral points.
The pieces respond to the historicist taste of the 19th century, a period in which forms and motifs from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance were recovered for the decoration of interiors, cabinets and armories. The incised ornamentation, twisted shafts, molded finials and vegetal or heraldic motifs evoke ancient models, although with a mainly decorative and scenographic purpose.
