Iron mortar of great presence, accompanied by its original hammer. The piece has a truncated cone-shaped body with an open mouth, with a rough textured surface and a marked dark patina, typical of old iron. It corresponds to the model known as ribbed mortar, characterized by the vertical projections in relief that run along the body of the vessel.

The decoration is completed with molded bands and cherub heads applied to the sides, elements that add ornamental character to the whole. Due to its dimensions and sturdiness, it is probably a mortar intended for pharmaceutical use, used to crush and grind medicinal substances, herbs, minerals or other compounds.
