It shows visible enamel loss in several areas. It has no dents or deformations. The vermeil interior is in good condition, exhibiting wear consistent with age and use.

Elegant Art Deco cocktail shaker made around 1940, in the style of Jean Dunand. The
piece features a striking cylindrical silhouette and a refined combination of
black and red enameled surfaces, with very understated metal trim. Its interior is finished in vermeil, which enhances its luxurious character and the quality of its craftsmanship. A bar accessory with a strong decorative presence, highly representative of
interwar French taste and the refined aesthetic of the period.
Jean Dunand (Switzerland, 1877–1942) was a Swiss-born, naturalized French painter, sculptor, interior decorator, and designer. A leading figure of the Art Deco style, he worked primarily with metal and lacquer. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Geneva. He settled in France in 1897 and became a naturalized French citizen in 1922. Early in his career, he devoted himself to sculpture, but from 1902 onward he focused on the decorative arts. His style evolved from a certain naturalism toward Art Deco. He created pieces in metal and lacquer featuring geometric designs, typically vases inlaid with gold, silver, enamel, or other materials. His works are held at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, among many other collections.
