Measurements: 100,5 x 70 cm.
Rodolfo Llopiz began his artistic training at the San Alejandro Academy, recognized as the oldest art teaching institution in Latin America. At the age of 19 he completed his studies in painting and engraving, and worked as an art instructor in a Casa de Cultura.
Later, faced with the imminent possibility of being sent to the armed conflict in Angola, he decided to return to Havana and avoid being recruited. For three years he lived in a clandestine situation, evading military summons until, at the age of 27, he was finally released from his obligations by going to the reserve.
In 1989 he joined the René Portocarrero silkscreen workshop, a fundamental space for artistic development in Cuba, which has hosted relevant figures such as Martín Chirino. During this stage, Llopiz produced a portfolio of silkscreen prints in homage to Spanish singer and artist Tino Casal, consolidating his profile as a multidisciplinary creator. In the 1990s, the workshop became an epicenter of cultural activity in Havana.
In 1996 he was invited by the Arci Nova Cultural Association to participate, along with five other Cuban artists, in the traveling exhibition Ver para creer (Seeing is Believing), which was presented in several Italian cities. Upon his return to Cuba, he gave silkscreen workshops at the International Association of Engravers and held two solo exhibitions focused on the collage technique. Shortly afterwards he returned to Italy to inaugurate a solo exhibition in Benevento and, in parallel, he obtained a scholarship that allowed him to develop an engraving portfolio in the city of Weimar, Germany. During this period he also collaborated with the RAM gallery in Zurich and the Canvas gallery in Amsterdam.
In 2000 he moved to Spain, where he worked in the workshops Bernard Estampa Artística and Fuera de Serie, specializing in silkscreen printing. In 2007 he founded his own workshop in the polygon La Llave in El Casar. Since 2017 he lives in the city of Malaga, where he runs the Retinta workshop and the Vacuo Graphic Association.
