DESCRIPTION
JOAN MIRÓ I FERRÀ (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma de Mallorca, 1983)
"Tirant lo Blanc Exhibition".
Silkscreen.
Signed in plate.
In good condition.
Measurements: 50 × 70 cm; 78 x 60 cm.(total).
Poster made on the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to Tirant lo Blanc, a fundamental work of Valencian literature and one of the great texts of the Mediterranean cultural tradition. Miró approaches the project from a fully abstract and symbolic language, combining gestural patches of black with intense chromatic areas in red, blue, green and yellow, configuring a composition of strong dynamism and expressive charge.
This poster is a significant example of Miró's collaboration with cultural and publishing institutions, as well as his interest in linking contemporary art with the Catalan and Valencian literary and cultural tradition.
Joan Miró was one of the key figures of 20th century art and an essential reference of surrealism and poetic abstraction. His work is part of the collections of the Fundació Joan Miró and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona, as well as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Tate in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. His profoundly innovative visual language redefined the relationship between sign, color and space in modern art.
