Poster realized on the occasion of the exhibition "Les Oiseaux", dedicated to one of the most emblematic themes of the late production of Georges Braque. The composition presents two stylized bird figures cut out on an intense blue background, accompanied by celestial motifs - stars and moon - that reinforce the poetic and contemplative character of the image.
The work synthesizes the plastic language developed by Braque in his last years, characterized by formal simplification, the use of emphatic silhouettes and an intense symbolic charge. The motif of the bird, recurrent in his work since the 1950s, alludes to ideas of freedom, spirituality and transcendence, moving away from the cubist fragmentation of his early period to adopt a more lyrical and essential tone.
The graphic editions produced by the Mourlot workshop, a regular collaborator of the great masters of the 20th century, stand out for their high technical quality and their faithfulness to the artist's originals.
Braque's large-format posters, especially those linked to exhibitions and iconic series such as Les Oiseaux, are particularly rare and highly prized in the modern graphic art market.
Georges Braque was one of the fundamental figures of modern art and, along with Pablo Picasso, co-founder of Cubism. His work is represented in the collections of the Musée National d'Art Moderne - Centre Pompidou and the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, as well as in major international institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Tate in London and the Guggenheim Museum.
