Etching by Hernández Pijuan in which the landscape is reduced to horizontal stripes of subtle tonal gradations, evoking the texture and silence of the countryside. A sober and meditative work, representative of his essential and poetic language.

Joan Hernández Pijuan was an outstanding painter whose career evolved from social expressionism with the Sílex Group to geometric figuration in the seventies, to finally consolidate in informalism. Professor and dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, his international relevance is reflected in exhibitions in the main capitals of the world and in a major retrospective at the MACBA in 2003. Awarded the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas and the Creu de Sant Jordi, his work is part of world-renowned collections such as the Guggenheim in New York, the Reina Sofía in Madrid and the National Gallery in Montreal, consolidating him as a singular and fundamental figure of contemporary Spanish art.
