This work belongs to a period of intense graphic experimentation in the production of Miquel Barceló. The composition articulates a still life scene in which organic elements -garlic, peas, animal remains- coexist with an animal figure of dark profile, generating an ambiguous atmosphere between the domestic and the symbolic.

The etching provides an incisive and gestural line that structures the space through nervous strokes and superimpositions, while the aquatint creates material densities and areas of great tonal depth.

The copy E.A. (épreuve d'artiste) indicates that this is a proof reserved for the artist outside of the commercial print run, which adds interest to the edition as a whole.

Miquel Barceló was trained in Palma de Mallorca and continued his studies in Barcelona, making his debut at the tender age of seventeen. After discovering art brut in Paris, in 1976 he held his first solo exhibition in a museum, at the Museum of Mallorca.

In 1986 he received the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas and later the Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes, among other international awards. His work is represented in important museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Guggenheim in Bilbao and the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, among other institutions of reference.
