DESCRIPTION
PRIMO ANGELI (1906-2003).
Official poster of the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.
Signed and justified at the bottom. Issue XXIX/CCL.
Measurements: 86 x 55 cm.
The poster for the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games was selected by Juan Antonio Samaranch (1920-2010), then president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The artist Primo Angeli was a renowned graphic designer who had a long career in corporate design. For Atlanta, he chose a classical figure that evokes the origins of the Games in ancient Greece. The white figure carries on its body the flame motif and the star of the Games emblem. In addition to the white human figure, the poster combines the five Olympic colors with the black used for the host city lettering.
