"San Lazzaro et ses amis", 1975.

In this composition, Miró displays a fully mature visual language, where the figure is constructed by means of a balance between black masses of great density and areas of vibrant color - blues, greens and ochers - organized with an apparently spontaneous freedom. The nervous lines and circular graphics introduce rhythm and depth, generating an image in constant tension between the figurative and the abstract.
The title "San Lazzaro et ses amis" introduces a possible symbolic reading linked to the idea of resurrection or regeneration, associated with the figure of Lazarus, which here is translated plastically into forms that seem to emerge, transform and coexist in a space in continuous mutation. As usual in Miró, this reference does not impose itself as a story, but acts as a poetic suggestion within an open and ambiguous constellation of signs.
Published by Maeght, a key figure in the diffusion of the artist's graphic work, this lithograph belongs to a limited edition, signed and numbered, which reinforces its interest in collecting.
Joan Miró trained in Barcelona and made his debut in 1918 at the Dalmau Galleries. In 1920 he moved to Paris, where he came into contact with the avant-garde and developed his own language influenced by surrealism. His international recognition was soon consolidated: in 1928 the MoMA acquired his works and in 1941 dedicated a great retrospective to him.
Throughout his career he received important distinctions and his work was widely disseminated in Europe and the United States. He is currently represented in institutions such as the Joan Miró Foundation (Barcelona), the MoMA (New York), the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid), the National Gallery of Art (Washington) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris), among others.
