This work by Not Banksy retakes the iconography of the rat, one of the most recognizable motifs of the urban art imaginary, to turn it into an image of threat, irony and critical commentary. The figure appears cut out in black and white on a dark cloud of aerosol, with illuminated eyes and a disturbing attitude, as if emerging from the surface of the wood itself. The piece combines black humor, appropriation and punk aesthetics, insisting on the ambiguity between homage, conceptual forgery and criticism of the street art market.

Not Banksy is a graphic and satirical project linked to L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, a London space dedicated to publishing, graphics and counterculture. Initiated in 2007 by STOT21stCplanB, the project is articulated from the appropriation, parody and criticism of the art system.
