“Lucía y el sexo” (2001), directed by Julio Medem, is one of the most iconic films in Spanish cinema. Starring Paz Vega, Tristán Ulloa, Najwa Nimri, and Daniel Freire, the film tells the story of Lucía, a young woman who, after her partner goes missing, travels to a Mediterranean island where she begins to piece together fragments of her past and her relationship.
The film received widespread international acclaim, particularly for Paz Vega’s performance, for which she won the Goya Award for Best New Actress and the Ondas Award, in addition to being nominated for several other awards. It has become one of the most notable Spanish films of the early 21st century.
