Alcaín studied at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, the National School of Graphic Arts, and the National School of Cinematography, all in Madrid—a triple education that decisively shaped his interdisciplinary approach to the image. This combination of disciplines allowed him to develop an early interest in the relationship between narrative, sequentiality, and visual construction—aspects that would become distinctive features of his work.
Throughout his career, Alcaín developed his own graphic language based on the fragmentation and recomposition of the image. His works are typically structured around blocks, sequences, or chromatic units that, when assembled, create compositions of great visual complexity. His work has been widely recognized and exhibited both nationally and internationally, and is represented in more than thirty leading museums and collections. Among these are the Reina Sofía National Art Center, the National Library of Spain, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Seville, and the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, as well as international institutions such as the Museum of Prints in Buenos Aires and the Salvador Allende International Museum of Solidarity in Santiago, Chile.
