Directed by John McTiernan and starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, the 1999 film is a new adaptation of the 1968 classic and follows Thomas Crown, an art-loving millionaire who orchestrates the theft of a valuable painting for the sheer pleasure of the challenge.
The film was a critical and box-office success. In addition, the performance of the song “The Windmills of Your Mind”—which won an Oscar in the original version—once again stood out in this adaptation with a new rendition by Sting.
