A lithograph by Joan Miró from his mature period of printmaking, in which the artist transfers the immediate power of his pictorial language to paper. The composition is structured by broad black strokes, applied with gestural energy, into which fields of red, blue, and yellow are inserted. The biomorphic forms, astral symbols, and calligraphic-looking graphic elements draw on Miró’s essential vocabulary, where figure, writing, and symbol merge into an image of great formal freedom.

The word “Miró” is integrated as an active part of the composition, not only as a nominal reference but also as a visual element. On the right, the inscription “Mallorca Series” links the work to the island setting that was fundamental during the artist’s final years, especially after he settled in Palma, where he engaged in intense creative and graphic activity. The hallmarks of the print are the light background, the forcefulness of the black, and the vibrancy of the primary colors.

Joan Miró was one of the leading figures in 20th-century art. Associated with Surrealism since the 1920s, he created his own artistic language based on symbols, constellations, organic forms, and poetic rhythms. His work is represented in institutions such as the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate in London.
