This sculpture was created to commemorate the centennial of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter in 1922. It reproduces the pharaoh’s famous funerary mask, recognizable by the nemes headdress, the cobra and vulture on the forehead, the ceremonial beard, and the hieroglyphic decoration on the back.

The bronze, with its dark patina, highlights the frontal orientation and solemn character of the Egyptian model, contrasting with the light color of the travertine base. The book accompanying the sculpture provides context for the mask, the sarcophagus, and other objects recovered from the tomb, creating a collector’s edition that bridges the gap between sculptural reproduction and art publication.
