Against a vast white background, Miró structures the composition with energetic black strokes and large patches of blue, green, red, and yellow. The economy of means, the freedom of gesture, and the balance between forms and areas of color encapsulate the artist’s characteristic poetic language. The lithograph belongs to the print series associated with *El Tapís de Tarragona*, published by Sala Gaspar in Barcelona in 1972.
Joan Miró was one of the leading figures in 20th-century art. Associated with Surrealism since the 1920s, he created his own language based on symbols, constellations, organic forms, and poetic rhythms. His work is represented in institutions such as the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate in London.
