BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JOAN MIRÓ (Barcelona, 1893–Palma de Mallorca, 1983).
"Original Lithograph I," 1972.
Original color lithograph on paper.
No visible signature or numbering. Typographic title on the reverse.
Included in the volume *Miró Lithographe II*. Printed by Mourlot and published by Maeght, Paris.
Measurements: 32 x 24.5 cm.

The composition brings together biomorphic forms constructed with vigorous black lines and areas of red, blue, green, and yellow. The overlapping of curved outlines, geometric masses, and animal-like symbols creates a dynamic image, characteristic of the graphic language developed by Miró during his mature period.

Joan Miró was one of the leading figures in 20th-century art. Associated with Surrealism since the 1920s, he created his own artistic language based on symbols, constellations, organic forms, and poetic rhythms. His work is represented in institutions such as the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate in London.
