Second volume of the catalog raisonné of Pierre Soulages’s paintings, compiled by art historian and critic Pierre Encrevé. The publication examines the paintings created between 1959 and 1978, a period of full artistic maturity during which the artist explored the relationships between material, gesture, rhythm, and light.
Richly illustrated, the volume reproduces and documents the works along with their technical details, provenance, exhibitions, and bibliographic references. Due to its systematic and documentary nature, it constitutes an essential reference work for the study, cataloging, and authentication of Soulages’s paintings. The Bibliothèque nationale de France lists it as a catalog raisonné, published by Seuil in Paris in 1995.
