“Homemade Prints” is a series created by David Hockney in 1986 using office photocopiers as an artistic tool, with which he experimented by layering drawings, colors, and shapes to produce vibrant and spontaneous images. The works, which focus on domestic scenes, flowers, chairs, still lifes, and portraits, are characterized by their intense colors, simple lines, and flat surfaces, showing influences from Matisse and Picasso, and also foreshadowing Hockney’s later interest in digital art and the use of new technologies as a creative medium.

A multidisciplinary British artist, David Hockney was a key figure in British Pop Art in the 1960s and is currently considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. He held his first solo exhibition in 1963, and just seven years later, in 1970, the Whitechapel Gallery in London dedicated its first major retrospective exhibition to him. His work has been exhibited around the world and is currently represented in the Royal Collection, the Royal Academy, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the British Museum in London; the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid; the SMAK in Ghent; the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles; and the Art Institute of Chicago, among other collections.
