A bibliophile edition of one of the seminal works of Spanish mystical literature, published by Hispánica as part of the Renacer Gráfico collection. The text by St. John of the Cross is accompanied by an extensive introductory study by Víctor García de la Concha and an extraordinary collection of original graphic works by Jorge Castillo. The edition brings together 16 works by the Galician artist Castillo, one of the great Spanish draftsmen and printmakers of the second half of the 20th century.
Jorge Castillo is a key figure in contemporary Spanish art, associated with the Nueva Figuración movement since the 1960s. His work, rich in symbolic and literary meaning, oscillates between figuration and abstraction. His work is represented in major public collections such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the IVAM, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, and various international institutions.
