This painting is ascribed to the eighteenth-century stele. The influence of Jean Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805) is intuited in the freshness of the flesh tones and in the reproduction of the qualities of the clothes, as well as in the treatment of the flower that decorates her dress. Greuze bequeathed us similar compositions, of tender girls portrayed in austere interiors. Greuze is considered one of the pioneers of sentimental and moralizing painting in France during the second half of the 18th century.
