BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Portuguese school of the 17th century.
"Still life".
Oil on burlap.
Measurements: 81 x 150 cm.
In this canvas of Portuguese school the author offers us a still life of flowers and fruits of great exuberance, adorned in addition with the presence of a live animal, a parrot that rests next to the provisions that contributes narrative sense to the scene, within a taste for the scenographic and the realistic thing typical of the baroque. It is a still life where balance prevails over the rest of the pictorial aspects, although the description of the qualities and the play of light and shadow, key elements of the Spanish and Portuguese Baroque still life tradition, are also important. The elements that make up the scene are placed on a table placed parallel to the lower margin of the painting, whose molded perimeter stands out for the effects of light. On it we see large baskets with cherries, pears, figs and other fruits, as well as shawls with tassels and floral bouquets. A curtain of baroque cuts theatricalizes and closes the composition in the upper right part.
