In this allegory to the wine three children of plump forms are represented in a state of drunkenness. The author presents us with an image very much to the taste of the time, a bacchic theme. The mythological representation in a revitalized genre, since it was the expression that represented a more intellectual and sophisticated lifestyle, at a time when the newly enriched bourgeoisie was beginning to acquire more aristocratic pretensions. These types of paintings were used to exalt qualities or represent a particular status.
The children in the scene seem to be characters from a Bacchic cult. Known as Bacchus in Roman times, he was the god associated with the grape harvest and wine, patron of the theater, and very often represented in solo art, in mythological themes or in the so-called "Bacchanals", where he sometimes did not even appear.
