Devotional painting representing the theme of the Annunciation. It is inscribed in the Flemish pictorial tradition of baroque root, where the sacred scene is developed in a domestic interior treated with remarkable narrative sense. The composition contrasts the dynamic figure of the archangel Gabriel with the Virgin recollected, surprised in a gesture of humble acceptance, following the iconographic models consolidated since the 17th century.
The careful treatment of the symbolic elements - the lily as an emblem of purity and the dove of the Holy Spirit - as well as the attention to detail in everyday objects, characteristic of Flemish painting, stand out. The directed illumination and the use of warm tones contribute to create an intimate and devotional atmosphere, typical of this type of compositions destined to the private sphere.
A work of notable interest for its fidelity to traditional models and its ability to combine religious narrative and domestic sensibility.
