This 19th-century reinterpretation of one of Diego Velázquez’s most iconic compositions highlights the Sevillian artist’s significance and influence on the development of Spanish art history. The artist skillfully synthesizes the famous *Vulcan’s Forge*, preserving the monumentality and narrative intensity of the original through a refined execution characterized by solid volumes, perfectly blended brushstrokes, and a composition of great visual clarity. "The Forge of Vulcan," housed in the Prado Museum, was and remains one of the great masterpieces of the Spanish Golden Age; the subject matter and even the color palette used by Velázquez reflect his time in Italy. Inspired by Ovid’s *Metamorphoses*, Velázquez transposed the episode featuring Apollo and Vulcan to a contemporary smithy, humanizing the gods through extraordinary naturalism and a masterful anatomical and psychological study.
