“Landscape.”
Oil on panel.
Measurements: 40 x 47 cm; 52 x 59 cm (frame).

This panel depicts a landscape deeply rooted in the Central European Baroque tradition of the genre, with a costumbrista approach and a composition based on a succession of planes and a contrast of tones—warm in the foreground and cooler toward the background. The perspective, with its very high vantage point, allows us to see the entire depicted space in detail and also conveys that monumental vision of nature that would grow increasingly prominent in Central European landscape painting as it evolved toward Romanticism.
