"Marina", 1936.

Born into a family historically linked to art, also his grandfather, his father and his uncle were painters, within the romantic style. He spent most of his life in the family farmhouse in Vilanova i la Geltrú, where he finally established his studio. As a teenager he painted seascapes, and at the age of twenty he moved to Barcelona, where he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts and at the Artistic Circle of Sant Lluc. He was a disciple of José Sugrañes, and was trained in the Catalan landscape school. He frequented Els Quatre Gats, a meeting and exchange point for young modernists. His first trip to Paris dates from 1900, and that same year his first exhibition took place at the Bertran de Vilanova Salon. In 1904 he exhibited for the first time at the Sala Parés in Barcelona, to great critical acclaim. In 1908 he made a second trip to Paris, and spent some time in Munich. Two years later several of his works are admitted in the International Exhibition of Brussels, and in 1913 he participates in the Exhibition of Catalan Artists in Montevideo. During the decade of the twenties he exhibited several times in the Galerías Laietanas. In 1957 he was named favorite son of Vilanova i la Geltrú, and in 1972 he was awarded the Encomienda de Alfonso X el Sabio. Currently his works can be found in the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Sant Jordi Hall of the Palace of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Madrid and in the Library Museum Balaguer.
