DESCRIPTION
Andalusian school, end of the XIX century - beginning of the XX century.
"Flamenco night dance".
Oil on panel.

Measurements: 17 x 23 cm; 33 x 38 cm (frame).
The work is part of a line of Andalusian painting interested in popular themes - flamenco, music and night - approached with a free, material and expressive language, preluding some plastic solutions of the first third of the twentieth century.
The composition dispenses with descriptive detail to focus on movement and emotion. The figures - dancers and musicians - appear barely insinuated, built with dense impastos and nervous brushstrokes, which transmit rhythm, intensity and a strong sensorial charge. The visual center is occupied by a clear figure, probably the dancer, whose white dress acts as a light focus and energizer of the scene, surrounded by dark silhouettes that reinforce the choral character of the dance.
