In this composition, Roig Soler focuses on the corner of a traditional house, where the game of volumes, eaves and windows articulates the space. The brushstroke is loose and vibrant, especially in the whitewashed walls, which reflect the light with shades of ochre, yellow and pink, contrasted with the greens and blues of the woodwork and sky.

The work is part of the realist landscape painting of transition towards a freer and pre-impressionist language, characteristic of Catalan painting in the late nineteenth century.

Joan Roig Soler practiced a style close to impressionism that preceded the modernism of Santiago Rusiñol and Ramón Casas, who came into contact with Sitges thanks to him. He exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, etc. He was distinguished with the Third Medal at the National Fine Arts Exhibition of 1887, obtaining awards at the Paris (1895), Barcelona (1896) and Zaragoza Exhibitions. He is represented in the collections of the Museums of Modern Art of Barcelona and Madrid.
