DESCRIPTION
FRANCISCO MOLES, (Segovia, late nineteenth century - early twentieth century).
"Market of Morella", 1904.
Oil on panel.
Signed in the lower right corner. Titled and dated on the back.
Measurements: 19 x 31 cm; 36,5 x 47,5 cm (frame).
The Segovian painter Francisco Moles developed his career between the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century, developing a costumbrista language of meticulous and descriptive brushstroke, at the same time especially sensitive to the luminous and atmospheric effects. He tackled diverse themes, from contemporary genre scenes, often featuring children or characters from the countryside, to paintings of mansions, very much to the taste of the time, as well as portraits of various characters, such as soldiers, literary scenes and orientalist themes. He is currently represented in various private collections.
