This landscape fully responds to Meifrèn's landscape sensibility, marked by the capture of light, the changing nuances of nature and a light brushstroke, capable of suggesting humidity, mist and depth without losing freshness.

Meifrèn constructs a scene of great atmospheric delicacy, dominated by the stillness of the water, the reflections and the verticality of the trunks. The vertical composition creates a visual axis centered on the tree of great elegance, which balances the amplitude of the sky with the serenity of the aquatic foreground.

The pearly tones of the sky, the soft greens of the vegetation and the pink reflections of the water give the scene a lyrical and silent atmosphere, close to the wetland and riverside landscapes that so interested the artist.

Eliseu Meifrén i Roig was one of the main representatives of impressionism in Catalonia. He trained at the Llotja School in Barcelona and furthered his studies in Paris, where he came into contact with the modern currents of European painting.

He exhibited regularly at the Sala Parés in Barcelona and participated in numerous national and international competitions. His work is preserved in important institutions such as the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), the Museo del Prado, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, as well as in numerous public and private collections.
