In this work, Joaquim Sunyer approaches the motif of the female figure in front of the mirror from an intimate and serene look, far from any theatricality. The young woman, dressed in red, appears duplicated by the reflection, generating a delicate interplay between presence and contemplation. The composition is built with broad forms, curved rhythms and a warm palette dominated by reds, ochers and yellows, which envelops the scene in a recollected atmosphere. The painting reflects Sunyer's mature language, marked by formal simplification, chromatic harmony and a profoundly Mediterranean sensibility.

Joaquim Sunyer was an essential figure of the Catalan Noucentisme, a movement that sought a classicist, orderly and Mediterranean renovation of modern art. Trained between Barcelona and Paris, he developed a work focused on the figure, landscape and intimate life, with a language of great balance. He is represented in institutions such as the MNAC, the Museu de Maricel de Sitges and the Museu de Montserrat, among other public and private collections.
