Trained at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts, Pedro Ferrer was a painter, restorer, illustrator, and choreographer. His painting belongs to the prolific marine school to which artists such as Sorolla, Monleón, Juste, and Salvador Abril belonged. His splendid interpretation of the sea led him to exhibit his work at the National Fine Arts Exhibition in Madrid (1895), where he presented his painting "Rescue of a Shipwrecked Man," for which he was awarded the Cross of Isabella the Catholic. Thanks to this work, Pedro Ferrer won the Gold Medal and Diploma of Honor at the Regional Exhibition of Valencia in 1909. After the Civil War, the Valencian artist directed the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia. Ferrer is considered one of the finest painters of seascapes, which he rendered through a style blending realism and Impressionism. However, he also produced commissioned works such as portraits, landscapes, and pieces with regional themes. His work is represented in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia.
